The Vision Behind the Lens

Photographer: Niko Jacob (@nikolasjacob)

Niko Jacob’s photography goes beyond capturing landscapes; it tells the stories of the communities protecting one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth. Through his lens, Niko invites you to see the Amazon as its guardians do, reflecting their resilience and wisdom.

Born in France to Colombian and French parents, Niko initially pursued a career in Economics and Finance. However, a transformative journey to Colombia led him to stay, captivated by the country’s culture and natural beauty. Following this, fifteen years ago he became a professional photographer in Colombia, honing his craft and expanding his vision.

In recent years, Niko has focused on the Colombian Amazon, working closely with local communities. His photography and video work highlight his deep connection to the region’s landscapes and people, capturing their stories with a unique perspective gained from over a decade of exploration.

Why This Matters

The Amazon is more than a forest—it’s a lifeline. The communities in this exhibition protect over 2.5 million hectares of forest, driving global carbon reduction. Their essential work, often unseen, is key to global conservation.

At its core, The Community Forests initiative supports these communities in protecting and regenerating the Amazon. By blending traditional knowledge with innovative conservation, it empowers local populations to manage their lands, preserving biodiversity and the health of our planet.

This initiative not only curbs deforestation but also builds economic resilience, offering communities tools to thrive while safeguarding their natural heritage. It illustrates how local efforts can shape a global future.

Support the Cause

When you acquire a photograph from this collection, you’re not just gaining a piece of art—you’re contributing to the vital conservation efforts in the Amazon. A portion of the proceeds will directly fund projects that support the communities featured in this exhibition.
