Biodiversity Credits
In some of the most biologically and culturally diverse
regions on the planet
YAIRE is The Community Forests’ biodiversity credit initiative, developed in partnership with the communities of the Monochoa Indigenous Reserve in Caquetá, Colombia—one of the most biologically diverse regions in the Amazon.
The project integrates modern science, technology, and ancestral knowledge to conserve biodiversity, strengthen territorial governance, and protect strategic ecosystems, always with the communities as the protagonists and rightful owners of their territories.
YAIRE connects conservation, culture, and territorial development, generating measurable, long-term environmental and social benefits.
YAIRE Biodiversity Credits Project
Community-led biodiversity conservation
YAIRE protects critical habitats and iconic species in the Amazon while strengthening the livelihoods of the Uitoto and Muinane indigenous communities. Conservation is built from the ground up, respecting ancestral knowledge and integrating it with scientific and technological tools.
Biodiversity monitoring, forest protection, and land management enable the measurement of verifiable results and the channeling of investment toward conservation.
Science, technology, and ancestral knowledge
YAIRE’s approach combines:
- Scientific biodiversity monitoring
- Technology for territorial monitoring
- Ancestral knowledge for forest management
- Direct community participation
- Conservation of strategic ecosystems
This integrated approach makes it possible to assess the state of biodiversity, strengthen community governance, and ensure the long-term protection of the territory.
Impact on the region
The funds generated by YAIRE support:
- Biodiversity monitoring
- Protection of strategic ecosystems
- Indigenous territorial governance
- Essential community services
- Sustainable food production
- Cultural and environmental conservation
Investment priorities are determined by the communities’ traditional authorities.
